Poem on Patriotism... India is my Pride


Hello Rhymers!!! One word that always originates from heart is 'Pride'. If my Love for nation is a Prejudice, then The Nation is my pride. Ever felt those moist eyes, numb voice and goosebumps while singing the National Anthem? Well, we share the same pride then.
Whenever I think about the things that make me feel proud, my heart leads my mind to the plethora of India's diversity, be it geographic, cultural, linguistic, religious or racial. If you explore the history sheets, there are numerous accounts of unflinching valor, spiritual wisdom, literary distinction, scientific excellence and humanitarian benevolence to be proud of. And most striking of them all is the resolute fortitude of Indian soldiers. Whenever you need an inspiration to fight against all odds, selflessly and incessantly, look no beyond your soldiers.
Keeping up with that spirit, here is a poem to celebrate that soul-stirring feeling of patriotism...

India is my pride...
I pledged my life to nation,
Right when i was born.
Come if may situation,
I’ll fight the raging storm.

 I idolize my soldiers,
With love in every breath.
The Tricolor on their shoulders.
Fills passion in my blood.

 To brighten up its future,
I’ll toil day and night.
Diverse and rich in culture,
My India is my pride.

India's greatest strength is its diversity. The very fact that these diversities themselves inspire this variegated land to stay united as one nation is surreal. And there can be no feeling more heart-warming than that. That is the greatest motivation for us to take this true encyclopedia of humanity to heights of modern benchmarks of greatness. And that would be possible only 'Together'...

      Toil means to work very hard. So 'I will toil day and night' means i will work hard day and night. Like we say din-raat mehnat karna.

      It means, if someday any such situation comes. In the context of poem, “if someday there comes a situation where i need to do something for the nation, i will do anything, even if i have to fight a storm”.

      Pledge means to take an undertaking, or a commitment/promise to oneself. So pledged my life to nation means that i have taken an undertaking (or promised myself) that i would dedicate my life to nation and to nation's interests. Hope i am clear. Thanks for visiting the page.

Hello Rhymers, If humanity is our first religion, then our nationality is our first identity. Whatever religious, regional, social or political prejudices we might have, they can not overpower our identity as Indians.  No nation can be strong if its citizens do not take pride in their identity. And Indians are natural at nationalism as we have a rich multicultural heritage to be proud of.
