Heartwarming poem on Humanity 'My Heart is same as you'

Hello Rhymers! If there is only one God, then certainly there is only one religion; and that is Humanity.
Today’s world is mired by unrest, turbulence and strife, arising out of mistrust and intolerance emanating from man made differences like religion, color, creed, ethnicity and all.

But we forget that nature and evolutionary forces created us all equal. Our natural identity is just as Human Beings-Homo Sapiens. And no difference can be greater than that one similarity. To create a better and compassionate world, we need to bury all those differences.
Today’s poem is dedicated to that spirit of Humanity.
My Heart is same as you...
You might be wearing turban,
though I am donning a cap,
He may be sporting tilak,

       while she is carrying cross.
We all were born humans,

though we turned buddhist or jew,
Don’t look at my religion,

My Faith is same as you.

The land that I was born in,

prayed God with a different name,
I was brought up in a family,
       that gave me this surname.
I was born as me by chance,

I might easily have been you.
Don’t look at my ethnicity,

My Spirit is same is you.

We rise from distinct nations,

       with different threats and needs,
Let’s not imperil our future,

       with futile wars and greeds.
Not always there’s a culprit,

we both too can be true,
Don’t look at my flag,

My Pride is same as you.

You sweat it out in boardroom,

I sweat it out in sun,
In struggle to meet the ends,

we all are on the run.
Don’t weigh me in my wealth,

I hold virtues strong as you,
Don’t look at my colour,

My Heart is same as you.
                         - Dr. Prashant Bhatt

So when you wake up tomorrow morning and leave your home, don’t judge the street vendor on his wealth (or the lack of it), don’t look at the religious symbol of the guy sitting next to you in train, don’t enquire the ethnicity before being friends with your colleague, and don’t discriminate against the people of the world based on their nationality.
Love, Peace, Equality, Humanity...

    1. Thanks for going through he post and leaving a comment. Yeah, its a bit lengthy and hard to memorize, especially for kids below Class 5. For older kids, a lot of kids and their parents have shared their experience of recitation in various competitions. And I can you tell that most of them have had good showing and results. I guess its a very good poem for recitation. Thanks once again.

Poem on Patriotism "We all are Indians first"

Hello Rhymers, If humanity is our first religion, then our nationality is our first identity. Whatever religious, regional, social or political prejudices we might have, they can not overpower our identity as Indians.  No nation can be strong if its citizens do not take pride in their identity. And Indians are natural at nationalism as we have a rich multicultural heritage to be proud of. To c elebrate that spirit of Patriotism and Nationalism, here is a poem that emphasizes the need for all Indians to rise above religion, region, social indifference and political aspirations.  We all are Indians first... History is our witness,  and martyrs are the god, We are disciples of Gurus,  this land is saints' abode. Compassion is our heritage;  in humanity do we trust, Neither Hindu nor Muslim,  we all are Indians first. Diversity is our culture,  and unity is our strength, We strive for Peace of world,  but are cautious of defence. Challenger of our sovereignty,

Punjabi Poem I ਮੇਰਾ ਪੰਜਾਬ, ਮੇਰਾ ਦੇਸ਼...

Hello Rhymers, If Punjab is my birthplace, then whole India is my workplace. Punjabis have always been proud of and deeply connected with their culture and heritage, and yet they have been the torchbearers of Nationalism and National integration, as highlighted and vouched for by the annals of history. The first poem I ever composed was a Punjabi poem that I wrote as an 11 years old for SAIKAPIAN (Annual magazine of Sainik School Kapurthala). The piece was a disaster, and deservingly, it was rejected for publication (yeah it was horrible). After these 30 years, it's flattering to write something meaningful. That's the reason I am tempted to share this poem with everyone.

Poem on Patriotism... India is my Pride

Hello Rhymers!!!  One word that always originates from heart is 'Pride'.   If my Love for nation is a Prejudice, then The Nation is my pride.  Ever felt those moist eyes, numb voice and goosebumps while singing the National Anthem? Well, we share the same pride then. Whenever I think about the things that make me feel proud, my heart leads my mind to the plethora of India's diversity, be it geographic, cultural, linguistic, religious or racial. If you explore the history sheets, there are numerous accounts of unflinching valor, spiritual wisdom, literary distinction, scientific excellence and humanitarian benevolence to be proud of. And most striking of them all is the resolute fortitude of Indian soldiers. Whenever you need an inspiration to fight against all odds, selflessly and incessantly, look no beyond your soldiers. Keeping up with that spirit, here is a poem to celebrate that soul-stirring feeling of patriotism... Cheers!!! India is my pride... I pledge
