Hello Rhymers, If humanity is our first religion, then our nationality is our first identity. Whatever religious, regional, social or political prejudices we might have, they can not overpower our identity as Indians.
No nation can be strong if its citizens do not take pride in their identity. And Indians are natural at nationalism as we have a rich multicultural heritage to be proud of. To celebrate that spirit of Patriotism and Nationalism, here is a poem that emphasizes the need for all Indians to rise above religion, region, social indifference and political aspirations.
We all are Indians first...
History is our witness,
and martyrs are the god,
We are disciples of Gurus,
this land is saints' abode.
Compassion is our heritage;
in humanity do we trust,
Neither Hindu nor Muslim,
we all are Indians first.
Diversity is our culture,
and unity is our strength,
We strive for Peace of world,
but are cautious of defence.
Challenger of our sovereignty,
for sure would bite the dust,
Neither Kannada nor Oriya,
we all are Indians first.
Perseverance is our Ethos,
and diligence is our means,
We pledge to usher-in dawn,
our ancestors saw in dreams.
We ain't shy of hard-work,
for us Rest-is-Rust,
Neither Tamil nor Sindhi,
we all are Indians first...
- Dr. Prashant Bhatt
Let us rise above all the forces that try to annihilate our national pride and thereby try to stop our progress as a nation. So that we can keep marching towards a better future for not just Indians, but for the whole mankind by creating a world of oneness, cohesiveness, inclusivity, tolerance, love and peace.
Jai Hind.
Keep vibing...

ReplyDeleteThanks for visiting not only the YouTube channel, but the blog too. Sorry I checked the message late, but I checked it on YouTube in time. Thanks...
DeleteThe poet says 'diversity is our culture' do you agree? why?
ReplyDeleteThanks for the visit.
DeleteI guess I have to agree (since I myself have written the poem :-D).
Being such a vast country with variegated landscape and geographical expanse, we always had rich diversity. With geographical diversity, the diversity of region, traditions and culture was bound to come. It all led to birth of many religions in India, which could not have happened in the absence of spiritual and intellectual diversity. With growth of India as a spiritual and academic center of the world, we influenced a lot of civilizations and subsequently their were significant cultural exchanges between various civilizations, adding to our diversity. I feel our cultural diversity is an amalgamation of all those exchanges.
Do you differ on this? Kindly share your views too.
Thanks again.

Here's another one...
DeleteMy sleep got disturbed, thrice that day;
I could not sleep tho’ a holiday;
My mind was filled with thoughts unclear;
I got up in the morn, much earlier;
‘Twas India’s Independence Day!
Thunder, lightning filled the night’s Sky;
The day much overcast did fly;
The Rain was just a drizzle that day;
Wetted the ground of mud and clay;
‘Twas 15th of August, a rainy day.
The pea-birds howled and groaned that night;
The Rain made them shiver with fright;
Though ten, it looked like six in the morn;
The Sun behind the clouds had gone;
The Sky ground-glass remained that day.
The leaky tap-waters that fell,
Raised wavelets, ploppy-toned and swell;
Rain-drops on cables looked like pearls;
Dropped, formed again, enticing souls;
It looked it would rain long that day.
Rain-drops hanging beneath fir-twigs;
Glittered in the scarce light like figs;
The whole tree was aglow, alit;
A thing of beauty, don’t miss it!
The Sky looked like a barred-white board!
A frail, brown-skinned, bony human,
With sack on head, bent-back, he ran!
The Indian was agonizing!
Tho’ people keep sermonizing!
Fifty years after Independence!
What good was done for the common-man?

4.What does ‘Rest is Rust’ mean?
ReplyDelete5.Do you think, the title of the poem was justified?
I Need answers quickly
'Rest is Rust' vaguely translates to 'aaraam haraam hai' in hindi. Rest stands for rest/aaraam/sitting idle, and rust means 'jung", as in iron gets rusted when not in regular use. I hope i could make it clear.
DeleteTitle is the essence and nutshell of the poem. This poem is about our rich and diverse culture. This leads to a large spectrum of differences and identities amongst the citizens of this country. This poem emphasizes that despite all the differences we all are Indians first. rest of the different identities come second.
Write a brief note on the guru pupil tradition of our country with reference to a few successful guru-pairs.
ReplyDeleteThis question from we all are Indians first
Give answer please in about 150-200 words

DeleteThank you so much...
ReplyDeleteVery beautiful poem
ReplyDeleteHope i win the competition today
:)
Sorry, checked the comment late. How did the competition go? Thanks for choosing this poem for your competition.
ReplyDeleteI recited this poem for my competition and won first prize for it, thank you so much!
ReplyDeleteWow!!! That's great! Congratulations. Thanks for choosing this poem for recitation.
DeleteSorry I couldn't finish my comment the day I first posted it, I was so happy on winning the contest that I couldn't think of writing anything else at the moment... Your poem was really nice and truly brought out the meaning of patriotism. I recited 2 poems for this contest (this poem and another small 2 para poem which I wrote myself) as it was instructed that we have to bring out 2 different aspects of the topic. The recitation may have been a part of it, but the evaluator said the the first poem (your poem) was better. I probably would not have been even in the top 5 if I hadn't recited this poem (because honestly the others had amazingly wonderful poems too). Also, a small correction, it is Kannada not Kannad... Thanks a lot again!!!!
DeleteThanks for getting back and sharing the details on this forum, very few people do that. I really appreciate it. It feels great the way competition turned out for you. Was it a school competition? Schools generally don't go that far. I would love to hear your poem, the one you recited along with this one. You can please share that if you are okay with it. And thanks for the correction, but unfortunately it has already been published in print. Thanks once again, your comment brightened up my day.
DeleteHi again! I’d really love to share my poem, but I spent a lot of time on it to make it sound as original as possible, and as this is a public forum anyone else who reads this comment might copy it, and since it’s my first poem, I want to keep it copy-free. Yeah, it was a school competition. Honestly, I too was surprised they got into the details this time (especially for my grade - the 7th - they usually do the detail-digging for the high schoolers). I have participated in this competition a few times before and they would just give us our score based on basic skills. I understand about the correction, but I am a Kannadiga and I just felt that I have to say it… And about the details in my comment, my teachers ask me why I write a 150-word paragraph for a 2 mark question, so I’m glad someone appreciates it ;)
DeleteHey! I can completely understand that, and its amazing that you are that aware at this age. Also its great to know that you are in Class 7, as my daughter is also in the same grade. I have already done the correction in this blog; that's how we learn from each other. I am sure your love for writing would be a blessing. Keep exploring yourself.
DeleteNice poem I liked it
ReplyDeleteThanks for visiting the blog. Thanks....
